TOPIC: Let Give Them Award!!!
THEME: Friendship
TIME: 80 minutes
LANGUAGE CONTENT: Adjectives, Simple Present Tense, Simple Past Tense.
AIMS: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
- Use their writing skills to provide arguments and evidence in simple paragraph
- Use their speaking skills to deliver a simple impromptu speech.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• One computer per group of 2-3 students
• Internet connection
• Web Browser
PREPARATION:
1. Locate the bored.com website.
2. Browse through the website and find the suitable activity that can be done in classroom
3. Prepare worksheet based on the information in the website.
4. Find suitable videos at youtube to be used for set induction and reference.

PROCEDURE:
Set induction: (8 minutes)
- Teacher shows a clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqau9him-aU) about an award show to students.
- Teacher asks students’ opinion about the excitement and fun of award show.
- Teacher introduces the lesson.
- Teacher asks the students to form a group of 2 to 3 per computer.
- Teacher instructs students to open the following website. http://www.awardwinner.com/
- Teacher shows students how to create a certificate in the website
- Teacher asks students to nominate one of their friends to receive an award listed on the website.
- Teacher asks the students to copy and paste the certificates on a prepared worksheet in Microsoft Word.
- Using the worksheet, the students are asked to write a simple paragraph explaining why he or she had chosen the person to win the award. (refer to example 1)
Task 2: (25 minutes):
- Teacher refers to the video shown during set induction to explain about acceptance speech.
- Teacher asks for volunteers to present their award.
- The recipient of the award is given 30 seconds to prepare an impromptu acceptance speech.
- After 30 seconds, the recipient of the award are asked to deliver the speech
- Steps 2 – 4 are repeated again with different volunteers.
Conclusion: (7 minutes)
- Teacher recaps the lesson on ‘Let’s give them an award!!!”
- Teacher ask students on other awards that they can give their friends in order to appreciate them.
FOLLOW-UP ACTIVITY:
- Teacher asks the students to write an e-mail about the award that they think they should won.
